Support through Trying Times

The role of a mental health professional is to provide emotional guidance throughout the negotiation process, addressing any issues the spouses or children may have during the divorce. With a caring and experienced approach the mental health professional will fill the role of:

  • Divorce coaches: Helping each spouse develop skills and self-awareness so they may participate effectively in collaborative negotiations, the mental health professional assists in the development of sound strategies for co-parenting and financial stability into the future while offering advice on how to properly address future issues reasonably. Psychologists and licensed Social Workers, mental health professionals address the intricate task of creating arrangements that will offer the best chance of success for the family post-divorce.
  • Child specialists: Working neutrally between each spouse, the mental health professional can fill the role of child specialist, addressing the needs of the children throughout the divorce while expressing their thoughts and opinions. If necessary, a child specialist provides an objective assessment of the children's needs with recommendations for a parenting plan, and to help the children express their own concerns and wishes over placement.
