Divorce is difficult. Using the adversarial process is like engaging in combat. If the other side has a weapon (like an adversarial attorney) , then it is prudent to defend yourself. The collaborative process is more like peace talks. As a psychologist, child specialist and divorce coach, I work with the collaborative team to assist individuals and families in arriving at a settlement that takes into account the psychological needs of all members of the family. Parents are supported during this difficult process and children need to be nurtured despite the difficulties.
